A socially connected community is a place where everone feels like they belong. It's a place where people know their neighbours and feel motivated to get involved, build relationships, and contribute to the creation of strong social networks.
For 2023 we, East Village Neighbourhood Association, are continuing our tradition of hosting a Neighbour Day event here in East Village as an opportunity for residents to meet each other. Our event this year will have a mid-day barbeque hosted by carya, a local Latin music group, and community involvement in refreshing/repainting the multi-coloured path through Celebration Square that we established last year. Community members will again be provided with the paint and painting supplies (rollers, long handles, etc.) to refresh the path. In addition, we are considering other possible activities for the event.
A number of local organizations have been invited to participate in the Neighbour Day event among them are: CMLC, The Drop In Centre, Central Library, National Music Centre (Studio Bell) are planning to participate in Neighbour Day. As well Councillor Terry Wong has been invited and may drop by.
