The Crossroads Community Garden provides the opportunity for East Village Neighbourhood Association (EVNA) members to come together to grow vegetables, flowers, and herbs, meet new people, and enjoy the outdoors throughout the growing season (May-October)!

EVNA is actively recruiting for new board members for the upcoming 2025-2026 year! To ensure fresh perspectives, we limit executive positions to five consecutive years, allowing new representatives to engage and have their voices heard! While all residents and business representatives are encouraged to join us, only registered members prior to 10:00am May 3, 2025 are entitled to vote on the incoming Board of Directors and other motions being presented.

Where: East Village Music Gazebo / Pavilion on Riverwalk (near the East Village dog park and community garden).
This year there will be two bike rides: a shorter family ride or a longer cyclist's bike ride along the Bow River both of which will end up back at the Music Pavilion where you will be provided a picnic lunch. Routes and destination will be provided at the event.
For the longer cyclist's ride sign in will be at 9:30 am to 10:00am and ride will be from 10:00am to noon.
For the shorter family ride sign in will be at 10:45am to 11:15am and ride will be from 11:15 to noon.
Open to East Village Neighbourhood Association members and families only and will require registration.
B i o g r a p h y
The Cappy Smart Band was formed in the late 1800's by Calgary Fire Department Chief James "Cappy" Smart. Initially the Band entertained the citizens of Calgary at ice cream socials, the opera house and other venues. When band members volunteered for service in the First World War, the Band disbanded.
The Cappy Smart Band was reformed in 1993. Currently the Band has roughly 50 musicians from the Calgary area. the Band enjoys playing for Calgary Fire Department events. As well, the Cappy Smart Band performs concerts on their own and in conjunction with other non-profit organizations. The Band has enjoyed playing at the World Police and Fire Games in Calgary, Spain and Australia and has also travelled to other countries sharing their music. Most recently the Cappy Smart Band travelled to Nova Scotia and PEI and enjoyed playing in concerts with other community bands.
A socially connected community is a place where everyone feels like they belong. It's a place where people know their neighbours and feel motivated to get involved, build relationships, and contribute to the creation of strong social networks.

EV Street Fair is a signature event attracting more than 50,000 visitors, with over 80 vendors, musicians and cultural performances. It’s no wonder we are Calgary’s destination event on Canada Day.
This one of kind event is a chance for all types of businesses and vendors to get exposure with the general public, local East Village businesses, and community leaders. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy our great city while having fun and learning all the great ideas, products, and businesses that are in our backyard.
